Marble has always
fascinated me
- both as a material
and as a challenge.
– Nicolai Franzen
A stone is hard, heavy,
and uncompromising,
yet it holds an almost poetic beauty. Working with marble is about finding the balance between respecting its strength and daring to shape it into something new a fine art marble sculpture.
The process is long and demanding: from the first rough cuts to the meticulous refinement of the surface. Layer by layer, the stone’s inner character is revealed until the form begins to breathe. It is physical work, but also a meditative journey – a dialogue between hand, tool, and material.
What drives me is the possibility of giving hardness a sense of softness. To let something as unyielding as marble take on organic shapes that almost seem capable of movement. In the tension between strength and fragility, solidity and lightness, I find the aesthetic I seek.
